Damon turned down inauguration day tickets

Matt Damon missed out on US President Barack Obama's inauguration day - because he refused to pay the $50,000 (€37,725) for two tickets, just so he could watch the man he helped put into office take the oath.

The actor had hoped his campaign efforts for Obama would secure him tickets for the big event last week - but his initial request for inauguration seats for himself and his wife Luciana was turned down.
