Winslet success continues at SAG Awards
Kate Winslet’s triumphant award season continued today when she scooped the best supporting actress title at the Screen Actor’s Guild Awards.
Collecting the award for her role in 'The Reader', the 33-year-old said: “I’m a bit lost for words, I’m sorry.”
Winslet recently won best actress titles at the Golden Globes and best supporting actress at the Critics’ Choice Awards.
Attention will now turn to the Oscars, in which she has been nominated for her role in 'The Reader'.
Winslet, wearing a striking blue dress, said: “What a year it has been. It is really an honour to be included in such a remarkable year and be acknowledged by my peers in this way.”
She added: “I really feel like everybody should be given a medal – I believe this to be true. I’m a little bit lost for words, I’m sorry.”
Further success came with the announcement that Hugh Laurie had won the title for best actor in a drama series for 'House'. Laurie, who was picking up the award for a second time, said: “This is amazing.”
