Charges upgraded after attack on Noel Gallagher

Prosecutors have upgraded the charge against a man accused of attacking Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher at a Toronto music festival.

Forty-seven-year-old Daniel Sullivan was charged yesterday with one count of aggravated assault. He was originally charged with assault after the concert in September.

Sullivan allegedly ran onto the stage during Oasis’s performance at the Virgin Music Festival and tackled Gallagher from behind. Gallagher said he suffered three broken and dislodged ribs after falling onto his speakers.

Aggravated assault can carry a maximum sentence of 14 years in prison. The maximum penalty for assault is five years.

Sullivan’s case is back in court on March 6 for a pre-trial hearing.
