Winehouse confirms divorce

Singer Amy Winehouse has confirmed she and her husband Blake Fielder-Civil have begun divorce proceedings.

Lawyers for Fielder-Civil, jailed for causing actual bodily harm and perverting the course of justice, were said to have filed papers in a bid to bring the couple's 20-month marriage to an end.

The news has been confirmed by a spokesperson for the singer.

The representative told British newspaper Metro: "Papers have been received and the matter is with Amy's lawyers."

Fielder-Civil, who married the singer in 2007, is reportedly set to battle for $7.6m (€5.72m) - half of the star's entire $15m (€11.3m) fortune.
