Irish actors fared well at last night's Golden Globe awards, with Colin Farrell pipping his 'In Bruges' co-star Brendan Gleeson to win the gong for best actor in a musical or comedy and Gabriel Byrne taking the best actor in a television drama category for US psychotherapy show 'In Treatment'.

Irish actors fared well at last night's Golden Globe awards, with Colin Farrell pipping his 'In Bruges' co-star Brendan Gleeson to win the gong for best actor in a musical or comedy and Gabriel Byrne taking the best actor in a television drama category for US psychotherapy show 'In Treatment'.

Arts Minister Martin Cullen has congratulated the pair, saying their success and the nomination of several other Irish artists show that Ireland has some of the best talent in the industry.
