Light and fluffy fun in 'Bride Wars'

It could be called a Chick Flick, provided the chicks in question aren’t about to get married.

Director: Gary Winick

Cast: Kate Hudson, Anne Hathaway, Candice Bergen, Kristen Johnston

It could be called a Chick Flick, provided the chicks in question aren’t about to get married.

We meet two brides, friends, who find the wedding planners have booked them in for the ceremony on the same day, at the same time and in the same place. The girls – Hudson and Hathaway – set out to wreck one another’s big event.

It’s one of many recent films about weddings that go wrong and here at least we have two for the price of one, plus a quality cast and some funny moments and lines.

It’s as light and substantial as a bubble and a film that tries a tad too hard to please us so that in the end you feel like grabbing the fighting ladies and butting their heads together.
