Travolta's hold memorial for Jett

Friends and family members joined John Travolta and his wife at a private memorial service for the actor's son at his Florida home.

The actor was accompanied by his wife Kelly Preston at the Church of Scientology ceremony held at the eight million-dollar property yesterday.

Their son Jett died at the family's holiday home in Grand Bahama last week. It is believed that the 16-year-old had suffered a seizure.

Jett's body was cremated earlier this week and flown to the US. It is believed that today's ceremony was conducted by an ordained Church of Scientology minister.

Tommy Davis, spokesman of the Church of Scientology, said: “A Scientologist funeral ceremony is a celebration of an individual’s life and wishing them well in their next lifetime.”

He added that the church believed that individuals were immortal being's with past lives.
