Nothing to recommend in 'The Spirit'

Director: Frank Miller

Cast: Gabriel Macht, Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johansson, Eva Mendes

Back-from-the-dead rookie cop Danny Colt (Macht) fights crime in the mean streets where arch-enemy the Octopus (Jackson) is bent on his evil all-conquering schemes.

Based on the Will Eisner comic-book series, this is a dire example of a film ill-directed by Miller to a weak, going-nowhere script.

'Sin City' it ain’t. The characters are thinly drawn, the plotline woeful and the appearances of Johansson and Mendes totally wasted.

There is nothing in this mish-mash to recommend the spending of your money in these credit crunch times.
