Doherty gives up drugs
Troubled British rocker Pete Doherty has given up drugs - and has vowed to stay clean into the new year.
The Babyshambles frontman has had a well-publicised battle with substance abuse and has been fighting addictions to heroin and crack cocaine since 2003.
He was jailed at London's Wormwood Scrubs prison in May, serving 29 days of his 14-week sentence for probation violation relating to his previous drug and driving offenses.
But the star has now vowed to turn his life around and ditch his addictions for good - although he is wary of giving up his other vices.
He says: "I'm sick of going around in circles. I'm clean now and I'm going to stay that way this year - apart from the fags and the booze."
