Sandler charming in 'Bedtime Stories'

Sandler – who usually comes across as charmless – manages to break his hoodoo with this kiddies film that is, indeed, a charmer. It even has elements that will appeal to adults.

He plays Skeeter, a man who never seems to succeed in life, whose stories, told to the younger members of his sister’s family, have the ability to come to life the next day. Naturally he ups the anti and starts to cast himself in glowingly heroic light, with wonderful results.

Sandler, whose comedy tends to be of the rougher variety, makes more of his character than we could have imagined and pushes the film well up the entertainment chart.
