Oprah Peta Person of Year

Animal rights group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals named Oprah Winfrey its Person of the Year.

Peta US president Ingrid Newkirk said Winfrey had used her “powerful voice to defend those without one”,

Winfrey is to be sent an award plaque and a letter of appreciation. Her Harpo Productions company said the talk show host was not available for comment.
