Johansson and Caine preach peace at Nobel concert
Scarlett Johansson and Michael Caine used their appearances at the Nobel Peace Concert in Norway on Thursday to appeal to world leaders to find peace with each other.
The pair hosted the concert - with performances from Diana Ross, Feist and country rocker Dierks Bentley - marking former Finnish president Martti Ahtisaari's Nobel Peace Prize award ceremony, presented to him the day before.
And Johansson urged world powers to pay heed to Ahtisaari's method of mediation as a means of ending conflict.
She said, "It is important to remind young people that peace is the only real victory," adding that mediation is the way forward, "not the way that US has handled it the past two terms which is: 'don't discuss.'"
Caine recalled his own experiences in conflict, as a child during the Second World War and as a soldier during the Korean War. He said (that) "is sort of the reason why I am here."
