Gallagher brands Albarn feud 'pathetic'

Noel Gallagher has heaped praise on rock rival Damon Albarn, branding the former Blur frontman a "great artist".

The pair famously swapped insults during their 1990s Britpop heyday, with the feud boiling over when Blur's 'Country House' track beat Oasis' 'Roll With It' to the top of the UK charts in a head-to-head battle in 1995.

But Gallagher is adamant any rivalries between the pair have completely disintegrated - admitting that their feuds were "pathetic".

He tells NME.com: "Looking back now that fight's all so pathetic over two really quite s**t pop songs. He's a great artist."

And Gallagher holds Albarn in high-esteem, because he is talented across a range of genres.

The singer adds: "He's different from me. I'm not an artist, for me, it just comes out. He does Chinese operas and that kind of thing, he's got more strings to his bow than I'll ever have."
