Carey's acting skills praised by co-star

Mariah Carey's 'Tennessee' co-star Lance Reddick is confident the superstar will prove her acting critics wrong with her role in the upcoming movie - because she "pulled off" the part really well.

Carey's acting debut in 2001's 'Glitter' was a major box office flop and her performance was savaged by movie reviewers.

But she makes her big-screen return in the forthcoming 'Tennessee', playing a waitress named Krystal who tries to escape her abusive husband.

And actor Reddick, who starred as her violent spouse, is full of praise for the 'Hero' hitmaker.

He tells People magazine: "She pulled it off. She really took it seriously. She was committed to proving that she could do this.

"I saw all the subtlety in her work, and it's really beautiful. After this, I think she's going to have a film career, if she wants one. She is good."
