Glitter to appeal against travel order
Sex offender Gary Glitter is to appeal against a court order requiring him to notify police if he intends to travel abroad.
Former rock star Glitter – real name Paul Gadd – was served with the order after returning to the UK from Vietnam where he served almost three years in prison for sex crimes involving two young girls.
Glitter was not present today at court in north west London, where an appeal date was set for February 19 to 20.
Under the terms of the order, Glitter, 64, is not prevented from travelling abroad, but must inform police if he plans to be away for more than three days.
At an earlier hearing on August 22, Glitter was required to register as a sex offender.
Glitter has a prior conviction for possessing child pornography, for which he served two months in jail in 1999.
In March 2006 he was given a three-year sentence by a Vietnamese court for abusing two girls aged 10 and 11.
Glitter was deported from the country at the end of his prison term and flew to Thailand and Hong Kong.
When he was refused entry to both countries, he returned to the UK and has since kept a low profile.
On September 25 he was banned from travelling to France and Spain for six months.
