Online youth TV channel goes live
Ireland’s first-ever free online TV channel for young people goes live tonight.
Entertainment junkies can log on to the brand new Magnet Infinity TV (MiTV) from their computers for a daily fix of home-grown shows.
The channel, owned by broadband provider Magnet, will feature live music, film news and reviews made in Ireland.
“We’re on the cusp of an explosion of choice in home entertainment,” said Magnet chief executive Mark Kellett.
“The prominence of sites like Bebo, Facebook and YouTube shows that young audiences are drifting from TV to their laptops and PCs.
“Online TV broadcasting is the next logical step.”
The content for the channel is produced by Dublin-based Intermission Studio which was awarded a broadcasting licence for the channel last year.
The programme line-up includes dance show The Studio Pulse with DJ Arveene Juthan and film show Reel View fronted by actress Hilary Rose.
MiTV is recruiting young viewers interested in becoming presenters for talent show 'The Studio and You'.
The channel will also be available on Magnet’s own network where it can be viewed on a normal TV set.
