'Der Baader Meinhof Komplex', with two outstanding central performances from Bleibtreu as Bader and Gedeck as Meinhof, this dramatised story of the infamous Bader Meinhof terrorist cell of the l960s and l970s deserved to be much better.

The German gang grabbed the headlines of the time through their terrorist acts of bombing and killing but the film, far too busy and preoccupied with what was taking place, fails to focus on explaining exactly what lay at the dark heart of the actions.

The film is good on the feel of the period but lets itself down with a poorly constructed flowline.
