Justice has been done, says Sachs' granddaughter

The granddaughter of actor Andrew Sachs tonight said she was thrilled to hear that BBC presenters Jonathan Ross and Russell Brand had been suspended over their lewd phone calls.

In an interview published on the Sun’s website, Georgina Baillie said: “I’m thrilled because justice has been done. Let’s see what Ofcom choose to do about it. I don’t know how it’s going to go from here.

“I’m really happy with the investigation. Me and my grandad are both really happy because it could have damaged our reputation permanently.”

In a message left on Sachs’ voicemail, the presenters claimed Brand had slept with 23-year-old Georgina.

Miss Baillie branded the presenters’ behaviour “despicable”.

“To call me that in public, not only could it damage my relationship with my grandfather but it could permanently damage my life as well, so I’m just really glad that it’s all over with and everyone can move on.”

Asked how she felt about news that the comments had been aired despite her grandfather refusing his permission, she added: “Disgusted again. Why would they do that, when he said that it’s not OK?

“When Russell left me the voicemail saying that they’d done it and it was over with, I was like: ’Oh God, it’s gone out now and there’s nothing I can do’.

“But the fact that it was pre-recorded and someone could have made the decision not to air it. and my grandad didn’t want it to be aired as well, is just awful.

“I’m sure he’s as happy about it as I am but he just wants to get on with his life now and so do I.”
