Becks dismisses Scientology claims

David Beckham has brushed off reports his Hollywood pal Tom Cruise is trying to convert the sports star and his wife Victoria to Scientology.

The Beckhams have become close friends with Cruise and wife Katie Holmes since they moved to the US in 2007.

But the Los Angeles Galaxy star, who was brought up as a Christian, insists that claims Cruise, a devout follower of Scientology, has been attempting to convert them to the religion are false.

He tells Britain's GQ magazine: "I respect any person's religion but he's never pushed anything on to us. Friends don't do that."
