Costner: 'Wife inspired music career'

Kevin Costner has credited his wife Christine Baumgartner with helping him forge his music career.

The 'Bodyguard' star - formerly a member of Roving Boy - now fronts rock band Modern West in between making movies.

But he admits that although music has been a lifelong love, he was unsure about dabbling in the industry and probably wouldn't have indulged his passion without his partner's constant encouragement.

He says: "She heard some of my older music and said: 'Why don't you try it again.' I kept giving her these excuses, but she kept at it. It wasn't once a week, it wasn't once a month - it was whenever she felt to mention it to build up my confidence. So she's the reason I'm making music again. And I feel so happy about that."
