Jazz Fest award winners announced

The 2008 Guinness Jazz Awards have been announced at the Cork Guinness Jazz Festival.

The festival, which is running this weekend, was founded 31 years ago to showcase the world's jazz talent.

Each year awards are presented in various categories.

Sax player Lee Konizt has been unveiled as the recipient of the Jazz Legend award.

This year's Rising Star Award has been given to Miguel Zenon and the Jazz in Europe Award goes to French pianist Martial Solal.

The Irish Jazz Award was taken by Sean Óg McErlaine, from quartet Trihornophone.
