Curtis: 'Sixth wife saved my life'
Veteran actor Tony Curtis credits his sixth wife with dragging him back from the brink after a bout of pneumonia left him near death.
The illness in 2006 left the 83-year-old star so weak and delirious, he had visions of his brother Julius, who died 70 years before.
And Curtis insists only the presence of his wife, 37-year-old Jill Vandenberg Curtis, saved his life.
He tells the National Enquirer: "Her caring for me is the only reason I am able to sit here and talk to you. She showed me what a marriage could be, how to care for each other in a very simplistic way. Jill saved my life."
The episode forced Curtis to think about what happens to him when he does pass away, and he now has a plan for his remains: "I may have them take my ashes and spread them all over Las Vegas."
