Controversial 'Quiet Chaos' well worth watching

Director: Antonio Grimaldi

Cast: Nanni Moretti, Valeria Golino, Alessandro Gassman

Cert: 16

A four-minute sex scene – heavily criticised by the Vatican – may have brought this Italian film to the attention of a wider audience but it deserves to be seen for many other reasons.

Chief among these is the performance of Moretti as a TV exec who finds it difficult to show emotion in the face of the death of a close family member.

In short, it’s a sweet and carefully observant film about feelings.

The action, for the most part, is set on a bench in a park and it’s remarkable how much depth is drawn from it .

An off-centre film, then, but a class one.

Star Rating: 4/5
