Coldplay net four US music award nominations

Coldplay and Alicia Keys lead the nominees for the 2008 American Music Awards, it was announced today.

Both are contenders for artist of the year, with Keys amassing a total of five nominations and the British rock band netting four.

Other multiple nominees and artist-of-the-year candidates include the Eagles and Lil Wayne.

The American Music Awards will present 20 trophies in pop/rock, country, soul/rhythm & blues and rap/hip-hop, Latin, alternative, contemporary inspirational and adult contemporary.

The awards will be presented in Los Angeles on November 23.
