B-movie horror fans will enjoy 'The Ruins'

Diligent medical student Jeff and his girlfriend Amy soak up the sun with Amy’s best friend Stacy and her slacker boyfriend Eric.

Poolside, they meet Mathias, whose brother has ventured into the jungle on an archaeological dig at a temple. Mathias suggests they all make a day-trip to the crumbling structure, the site of human sacrifices hundreds of years ago.

The expedition quickly turns sour when bow-and-arrow-wielding locals chase them up the steps of the temple and refuse to let them leave. Inside the temple are voracious man-eating vines. Adapted by Scott B Smith from his book, 'The Ruins' sows the seeds of an entertaining and campy B-movie but the script and the cast play this game of survival with a straight face.
