McCartney plays for 40,000 in Tel Aviv

More than 40,000 music fans turned Paul McCartney's first show in Israel into a huge celebration on Thursday night.

The former Beatle greeted the audience in Hebrew before performing at a peace concert in Tel Aviv, four decades after the Fab Four were banned from the country.

The Friendship First concert featured 31 hits from McCartney's music career, including Beatles songs, Wings hits and solo tunes.

He also performed late Beatles bandmate John Lennon's 'Give Peace A Chance'.

He finished the set with Fab Four favourites 'Yesterday' and 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band'.
