Pop diva Mariah Carey is to be named a global ambassador for a hunger relief charity.

The singer will front the Yum! Foundation's appeal to raise money for the United Nations World Food Programme.

She will be unveiled as the organisation's new frontwoman later today. Yum! owns restaurant chains Pizza Hut, Taco Bell and KFC.

As ambassador, Carey will appear in posters in more than 36,000 stores in more than 112 countries.

Carey wants fans to donate money and download her song Love Story at FromHungerToHope.com, with 25c from every download going to the foundation.
