Irish musicians expected to flock to The Music Show
Some of Ireland’s hottest acts have been confirmed for The Music Show, which takes place at the RDS, all day on October 4 and 5.
Artists include The Blizzards, Republic of Loose, The Coronas, Ham Sandwich, Cathy Davey, Declan O’Rourke and Fionn Regan.
The programme of events for The Music Show also includes a host of exhibitions, workshops, seminars, fun, games and much more.
The Music Show is offering all-comers the unique chance to test your singing skills against some of Ireland’s top performers by seeing who can hold the longest note.
A host of top producers and studio masters from the Irish and International industries such as Nick Seymour (Crowded House), Tom McFall (Bloc Party, Editors, R.E.M.), Dave Odlum, and Muse live sound engineer Marc Carolan, will be in Dublin over the weekend to talk about how to create that special sound and to give an unique insight into how hit records are made.
Artists who will take part in the discussions will include Republic of Loose main-man Mik Pyro, Maria Doyle Kennedy, Steve Wall, Ashley Keating of The Frank and Walters, Julie Feeney and Gavin Friday.
Add to that a list of heavyweights like Vince Power, ‘Once’ movie director John Carney, The Corrs’ manager John Hughes and Stiff Records’ founder Dave Robinson.
The weekend will also feature a full line-up of workshops and master-classes for music fans and indeed for musicians themselves. Music legend Henry McCullough (Paul McCartney’s Wings) and Fiachna O’Braonain (Hothouse Flowers) will give a once-off guitar masterclass, as will classical guitar wizard John Feeley.
Aspiring DJs can see the turntablism & scratching workshop with DJ Tu-Ki, while the Bodytonic crew will also be on hand to give up and coming club DJs exhibitions, tips and advice. Other workshops will include studio recording, rock singing, live sound and mixing.
Each day will see a virtuoso act take to The Live Stage. Drumming powerhouse Mike Terrana (Masterplan/Rage) also flies in from Germany to play on Saturday.
