Talent-show star Potts finally quits terraced home

Britain’s Got Talent star Paul Potts is poised to quit the humble terraced home where he masterminded his rise to fame and move to a new luxury house.

Despite having pots of money these days the millionaire opera sensation has chosen a sprawling south Wales pad just one mile from his former home.

The 37-year-old star will have ample space to sing in the bath. The imposing art deco home, in Port Talbot’s Baglan district, boasts a huge jacuzzi bath and other traditional features such as a wood-panelled hallway.

Called Sunray, and on sale through the Astley Samuel Leeder estate agent, it was built in the 1930s and has five bedrooms and a half-acre landscaped garden.

The property comes with a £450,000 (€568,500) price tag and is light years away from his current two-up two-down home valued at £110,000 (€139,000).

The purchase, when completed, will be further proof of the singer’s vow to stay true to his roots and remain in Port Talbot.

The move comes 15 months after he shot to worldwide stardom as the winner of the ITV1 reality show.

Since then he has topped the charts in 21 countries and sold three million copies of his fist album, 'One Chance', worldwide.

A source close to the deal today told the Western Mail, in Cardiff, that Mr Potts is poised to sign off on the deal any day.

“The sale isn’t completed yet but it’s in the process of being done. It’s an amazing house, a real one-off,” he said.
