Van bans drink at gigs

Van Morrison has banned fans from drinking alcohol during shows on his upcoming tour.

The 'Brown Eyed Girl' hitmaker imposed the ban because he finds it "off-putting" when fans visit the bar during his performance.

A spokesperson for the star has denied the booze ban has anything to do with Morrison's past battle with alcohol addiction.

Organisers at England's Brighton Dome, where Morrison will kick off his tour on Friday, state the request is "not hugely common" and confirmed the venue had played no part in the decision.
