No Sherlock Holmes deal yet for Farrell

With his recently wrapped drama 'Ondine' now taken up for major worldwide distribution, Colin Farrell looks to his next project … but don’t get too excited just yet over stories of his joining Guy Ritchie for Sherlock Holmes.

Farrell was said to be signed up to play the famous Victorian detective’s sidekick Dr Watson (with Robert Downey Jnr rumoured for the title role), but it hasn’t happened just yet.

Loudmouth Russell Brand is also linked to the project, as Holmes’ arch-enemy Moriarty … but insiders reckon Farrell would make a much better baddie.

Meanwhile, 'Ondine' looks to be a success - Neil Jordan directs, Stephen Rea and Allison Barry co-star. The story is about a fisherman who reels in a mysterious woman thought to be a mermaid by his young daughter. It was filmed in Castletownbere, Cork.
