'Pineapple Express' well above the average

The subject matter of this comedy thriller might, almost certainly will, divide audiences but it’s still a fall-down funny, fast-paced and entertaining piece.

It’s just a bit – no, a lot – of manic fun as hapless pair Dale (Rogan) and Saul (Franco) chase frantically after a hidden stash of ultra dope – the 'Pineapple Express' of the title – while chased by crooked cops and greedy hoods at a non-stop rate that’s packed with action.

Rogan co-wrote the piece and intended the Saul part for himself until he realised Franco was funnier … a wise decision since Franco carries the film.

It’s mindless fluff, but not the worst you’ll see since it’s raised well above the average stoner caper.
