Courtney Love defends Brand's VMA performance

Rocker Courtney Love has spoken out in defence of her friend Russell Brand - after the British comic was criticised for his risque gags at the recent MTV Video Music Awards.

Brand - who hosted Sunday's ceremony - came under fire for mocking The Jonas Brothers' sexual morals and ridiculing the trio's decision not to have sex before marriage.

However, Love insists that Brand was a great choice to host the awards - calling him her "darkling prince".

She wrote on her MySpace internet page: "He looked very not nervous (sic). I love Russell. I love you an (sic) damn proud of you baby!"
