Coldplay land four nominations for Q awards
Rockers Coldplay are leading the nominations for the 2008 Q Awards, garnering four nods for the London ceremony.
The band's hit single 'Violet Hill' is up for Best Track and Best Video, while their LP 'Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends' will compete in the Best Album category.
Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds' disc 'Dig!!! Lazarus, Dig!!!', The Last Shadow Puppets' 'The Age of the Understatement', and Vampire Weekend's self titled release are also in contention for Best Album.
Coldplay will also fight it out for the title of Best Act In The World Today, but will face stiff competition from Oasis, Muse, Metallica and Kings of Leon.
Other Q Award nominees include Welsh soul star Duffy, who is up for Breakthrough Artist and Best Track for 'Mercy', and The Ting Tings, who will compete for Best New Act and Best Track for 'That's Not My Name'.
Reunited rockers The Verve have impressed with their comeback shows and are up for the Best Live Act award, alongside Rage Against The Machine, Kaiser Chiefs, Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds and Kings of Leon.
The winners will be unveiled when the awards show takes place at London's Grosvenor House Hotel on 6 October.
