Bruni to appear on Holland show

French First lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy is set to take time out from political duties to perform alongside Metallica and Paul McCartney, the BBC said today.

The French president’s wife will appear on BBC2’s 'Later... With Jools Holland' in two weeks’ time as the new series of the show gets under way.

The 40-year-old musician, who married French president Nicolas Sarkozy in February, will perform live tracks from her new album in a 30-minute programme scheduled for September 16 and then an extended hour-long edition to be screened on September 19.

Heavy metal rockers Metallica, former Beatle McCartney and rock band Kings of Leon will also perform on the show.

Bruni-Sarkozy’s recent album Comme Si de Rien N’Etait, which translates as 'As If Nothing Had Happened', was released in July and is her third album.
