Russell Crowe is set to play Sherlock Holmes' sidekick Dr Watson in Guy Ritchie's new film.

The 'Gladiator' star is lined up to star opposite Robert Downey Jr as the legendary fictional sleuth's confidante and storyteller in the forthcoming flick.
