Irish comedian wins Edinburgh fringe award

Irish stand-up comic David O'Doherty has bagged one of the UK's most prestigious comedy awards.

He has scooped the Intelligent Finance Comedy Award 2008 for his show at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

O'Doherty, from Dublin, also performed a children's show at this year's festival.

The director of the awards said 'an hour with David fills the world with laughter and charm and sends you home on a wave of happiness'.
