Cancer-stricken Goody 'fighting for life'

Reality TV star Jade Goody fears she may not live to see her sons grow up as she battles cancer, it was reported today.

The mother of two was told she had cervical cancer while in the Indian Big Brother house and immediately returned to the UK for treatment and tests.

According to the Sun, doctors warned Goody, 27, the tumour in her womb may have spread to her bloodstream and she will undergo a hysterectomy next week.

She also said she will need radiotherapy and chemotherapy and that without treatment, she would have been dead within three months.

"I'm fighting for my life," she told the paper. "I've got no control over this disease and I'm b***** terrified.

"I am going to fight the damn thing every step of the way because I have two beautiful boys who are my world.

"But I have to be realistic and face the possibility that I might not live to see them grow up."

Goody, mother to Bobby, five, and Freddie, three, hit out at accusations that her illness was a publicity stunt because she was appearing in 'Bigg Boss' - the Indian version of the show that made her famous - when she was given the diagnosis.

Since the age of 16, Goody said she has had four smear tests to detect cervical cancer, which all showed up pre-cancerous cells in her womb.

She revealed how she received treatment three weeks ago following an abnormal smear test after she collapsed at her home in Essex.

But Goody told the Sun she was given the all-clear and decided to go ahead with the India trip because she was being paid £100,000 (€125,466) and needed the money.

Goody, who arrived back in the UK on Tuesday night, also spoke of her sadness at never having more children, in particular a baby girl.

However, she said she was grateful she had the chance to become a mother to her sons before the cancer.

"Then it hit me that some women get cancer and never become mums," she told the Sun.

"I realised I should be thankful for my gorgeous sons and decided I was going to take this horrible disease on - and win."

The TV star's contracts dried up following the furore over her alleged racism in Channel 4's 'Celebrity Big Brother'.

Her perfume, Shh..., was taken off the shelves and publishers decided to drop a paperback edition of her autobiography.

The Indian Big Brother show was presented by Shilpa Shetty.

Goody's treatment of the Bollywood star, who she dubbed 'Shilpa Poppadom' in 'Celebrity Big Brother', led to her public downfall.
