Mulder and Scully chemistry remains in latest 'X-Files' film
The X-Files: I Want to Believe
Director: Chris Carter
Cast: David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson, Billy Connolly, Amanda Peet
Cert: 15
Mulder and Scully – one believes, the other doesn’t – are back, 10 years after the last journey into the mysterious world of unknown things from beyond … and very welcome they are, too.
The 'X-Files' TV series was one of the most successfully compulsive ever made and while this film isn’t exactly a knockout – many of the hour-long small-screen dramas were better – there is still much to delight old fans and grab new ones, all helped by the chemistry still existing between Duchovny and Anderson.
The plot here isn’t a strong one – missing agent and Connolly playing a defrocked priest with nasty on his mind – but the film is sustained strongly enough to send you home happy … or at least uneasily.
Maybe there are things out there.
