You wouldn’t think the Hammers – dear old West Ham United, usually of the lower regions of the Premier League, when not being relegated – could enrage so many of their fans to such heights of savagery.

Yet, they are the club infamous for the hooligans who follow them … and Cass Pennant, whose story is told in this true-life tale, is one of the worst offenders. Thus we have another film about football violence, depicted almost as an artform.

Alas, there is nothing new for us in the film, it has all been seen before, and often better.

A good clip around the ears would work wonders.
