'Married Life' flawed, but entertaining

A solid thriller with Brosnan doing what he does best as a loveable cad with lashings of charm and wit.

Director: Ira Sachs

Cast: Chris Cooper, Pierce Brosnan, Patricia Clarkson, Rachel McAdams

Cert: 12

A solid thriller with Brosnan doing what he does best as a loveable cad with lashings of charm and wit.

Even if it doesn’t quite last the course after a bright start, it’s the sort of film to take you happily through an evening out.

Brosnan plays the best pal of a married man (Cooper) who decides to murder his wife (Clarkson) in order to be with his girlfriend (McAdams) … on the dubious grounds that murder would be less hurtful and embarrassing to his wife than a divorce.

Brosnan’s character needs his friends and decides to steal the girlfriend, it’s the decent thing to do.

It’s a neat film, if a flawed one. But well worth watching.
