Warrant issued for Doherty's arrest in the UK

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of troubled musician Pete Doherty after he failed to show for a court appearance in the UK, it was reported today.

The Babyshambles frontman was due to appear at Yeovil Magistrates Court in Somerset, to answer allegations of criminal damage, an ITV West report said.

Doherty, 28, allegedly chased photographer Cath Mead into a shop in Crewkerne, in Somerset, in August last year after she took a shot of his then girlfriend Irina Lazareanu.

Ms Mead was not seriously injured but damage was allegedly caused to her camera.

At the time he was on bail at his cousin Barry Parsons’ home in Tintinhull, Somerset, in relation to drugs and driving offences.

Doherty failed to show at court today and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

He is now expected to appear before magistrates later this week.
