There’s no end to the Stephen King roll-call: here’s another chiller from the master of fright … and a terrific one it is too, since not all King’s works translate successfully.

It is familiar territory for King fans: a town, recovering from a fearsome storm, finds itself shrouded in a mist generated from a nearby army base and with the citizens being offed at regular intervals.

Jane, playing a local artist and action-man father, holes up in a store with several fellow townsfolk … not all of them the sort you’d wish to hide out with.

It’s a downbeat and menacing tale, full of chills and brilliantly realized by Darabont. A real King classic.
