Britney and Kevin in court

Britney Spears and Kevin Federline spent the morning behind closed doors in a Los Angeles court.

The pop singer, her ex-husband and their lawyers appeared before superior court commissioner Scott Gordon, who is presiding over their post-divorce child custody issues.

Spears, wearing a white short-sleeve top and calf-length combat trousers, left court at about 11am with her lawyers.

Federline, in a grey suit, left a short time later.

The substance of the court session was not immediately known.
