'Penelope' is perfect for younger viewers
Penelope (Momentum, €24.99) has a touch of Pinocchio about it.
Christina Ricci plays the title role of a girl cursed with a pig’s snout who lives hidden away in her family’s magical house.
The only way to break the curse is to find true love. After a series of failed attempts, she stumbles upon handsome and luckless Max (James McAvoy) and Anne (Reese Witherspoon) who help her to find inner contentment.
While Penelope has its limitations — the ‘once upon a time’ introduction is a tad limp — it does have a warm feelgood factor, perfect for younger viewers.
It also has a message — that looks aren’t everything. Limited special features.
