Eurythmics singer Annie Lennox has called on the paparazzi to leave Amy Winehouse alone - insisting the troubled star needs time out of the spotlight to recuperate.

Winehouse has endured a long, public battle with drink and drug addictions, which saw her admitted to rehab earlier this year.

Lennox, a long-time anti-drugs campaigner, is troubled by the plight of the 'Back To Black' singer and wants to see her kick her problems once and for all.

However, the 53-year-old insists the only way Winehouse can recover is if her ever-present following of snappers back off and allow her to keep out of the public eye.

"I wish somebody could stop everyone taking pictures of her and get her out of the spotlight," she said. "I want to see her healthy, not wrecked."
