Drugs not tolerated at Chemical Brothers gig, police warn
Drug users and street drinkers will not be tolerated at this weekend's Portrush beach party, police warned today.
With more than 20,000 fans expected to watch The Chemical Brothers on the town's East Strand, PSNI chief inspector Nicky Thompson claimed his officers will take action against anybody who steps out of line.
He said: "Portrush is a family friendly destination, and we intend to keep it that way. Come and enjoy all the area has to offer, but don't kid yourself that you can get away with taking illegal drugs or acting in a loutish or drunken manner."
Street drinking bylaws, including areas on the strand's rocky outcrops will be rigidly enforced. Alcohol will be seized and culprits reported for prosecution.
The concert, which begins on Saturday, is not open to fans aged under 18. Major traffic congestion is expected
Inspector Thompson added: "If you don't want to miss the concert, don't bring illegal drugs, don't take illegal drugs and don't attempt to sell illegal drugs, as we will be looking out for you."
