Oasis set to receive top accolade at Silver Clef Awards
Oasis are to be honoured with a lifetime achievement award at the annual Silver Clef Awards in London next month.
The band will receive the award in recognition of their dedication to the music industry, and the success of their record sales.
They will be honoured alongside seven other categories, including 'Record of the Year' and 'Best International Artist', which will be revealed at the ceremony in July.
Last year, former singer/songwriter Paul Weller took home the lifetime achievement gong in celebration of his 30-year career.
Bryan Ferry and renowned tenor Andrea Bocelli were also among last year's winners.
The band, including members Noel and Liam Gallagher, Gem Archer, Andy Bell and Zak Starkey, shot to fame in 1994 after the release of their hugely successful 'Definitely Maybe' LP - putting them at the forefront the Britpop scene and prompting a return of guitar music in the global charts.
The band are set to release their seventh as-yet unnamed studio LP later this year.
