'Sex and the City' exactly what we expected it to be

Director: Michael Patrick King

Cast: Kim Cattrall, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis, Cynthia Nixon, Chris Noth

After an endless series of off-on rumours – and stories of cast in-fighting – the big screen version of the cult TV series set around the sex-searching lives of four sassy New York ladies finally arrives.

Rather it totters – usually on great shoes – to a cinema near you. It’s not as good as the long-running series but it isn’t too bad: at times it’s just annoyingly vapid.

The cast is, though, in fine form doing all that is necessary to satisfy fans of the series, but not over-extending themselves.

It’s exactly what we expected it to be, no more and no less. It’s funny and stylish in that brittle NYC way.

Star Rating: 4/5
