Radiohead guitarist lost hearing during album sessions

Radiohead star Colin Greenwood went deaf during the recording of the band's new album - because he used the wrong headphones.

The bassist was devastated to be left temporarily deaf in the studio as the band were busy laying down tracks for 'In Rainbows', calling it "a nightmare".

"For a few months afterwards I'd be watching the telly and suddenly hear these high pitched whistling noises as more and more high frequencies came back," he said.

The 38-year-old was ecstatic when his hearing eventually returned: "It doesn't feel like I'm talking to people underwater any more."
